MESSAGE
DELIVERED BY H.E. BARAKA H.LUVANDA, HIGH COMMISSIONER OF TANZANIA TO INDIA WITH CONCURRENT ACCREDITATION TO NEPAL TO THE RIGHT HONOURABLE BIDYA DEVI BHANDARI, PRESIDENT OF NEPAL UPON PRESENTATION OF CREDENTIALS,
KATHMANDU, NEPAL, OCTOBER 25, 2018

Your Excellency, Madam President,

1. Thank you very much for sharing this brief moment with me out of your extremely busy schedule. I have been looking forward to this day with great anxiety and longing. That, I have finally come to this Country of Himalayas; with the highest peak in world - The famous Mount Everest; is so exciting experience and quite fulfilling.

2. Mdm President, allow me to convey to you very warm greetings from His Excellency Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania. His Excellency President Magufuli has wished you good health and energy, as you continue to deliver on your mandate.

3. Mdm President, Tanzania and Nepal enjoy very warm and cordial diplomatic relationship for the past 43 years now. What we should and must do is to scale it up to a more active, pragmatic and mutually beneficial level. And so, as we continue to see each other eye to eye in many international platforms such the United Nations Organization, the Non Aligned Movement, the Group 77, and many others, we need to also translate this relationship to more sound bilateral exchanges through increased trade, investment, business, cultural as well as people to people interactions.

4. I feel I should mention also that Nepal and Tanzania are among the 25 countries that contribute large contingent troops to the UN peacekeeping operations and this is something we need to sustain and also add more voice together in demanding for a reasonable or fair return or rather consideration.

5. Mdm President, Nepal has been doing very well in tourism industry, an area which Tanzania can borrow experience and expertise to make the best out of it. So, in my time I will be following up on such collaborations that would enhance this important sector to thrive in Tanzania the same way as in Nepal.

6. Mdm President, Nepal and Tanzania belong to the same level of development and therefore our bilateral collaborations should help our economies grow together. For instance, agricultural sector is the mainstay of Nepal as it is the case for Tanzania. An elaborate exchange of knowledge, experience, technology, and even addressing marketeering issues, etc, would be necessary in advancing this important sector in our two countries.

7. Mdm President, I would end my message by asking you to include Tanzania as one destination to carry a working or a private visit to Africa, once you so decide. I will certainly be happy to part of the coordination of such a visit and I very much look forward to it.

Finally, it is my humble request that you continue guiding me as I assume these functions today and I look forward to an exciting tenure of duty.

Madam President, I thank you.
