ADDRESS BY
H.E. BARAKA H. LUVANDA,
HIGH COMMISSIONER OF THE UNITED REPUBLIC OF TANZANIA AT THE OCCASION OF COURTESY CALL ON HER EXCELLENCY HALIMAH YACOB, PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF SINGAPORE, ISTANA, SINGAPORE 28TH JUNE 2018

Your Excellency, Madam President thank you very much for this opportunity.

It is indeed an honour and privilege to me to have been afforded this opportunity courtesy audience out of your extremely busy schedule.

I wish to humbly deliver to you Madam President, very warm greetings from His Excellency Dr. John Pombe Joseph Magufuli, President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

His Excellency President Magufuli has wished you good health and energy as you continue to deliver on your mandate in this Great Nation.

Madam President, personally I feel very lucky to be able to serve in the capacity of High Commissioner of Tanzania in this beautiful country with diverse culture, diverse people and an inspiring level of development. And I am keen and determined to carry out this mandate with great vigour, energy and enthusiasm.

Madam President, Singapore and Tanzania are special friends. Our diplomatic ties are now close to 37 years old, but they are warm, cordial and strategic.

And much as we are united by a common vision of the World a world that is underpinned by democratic values and peaceful co-existence, we both strive for a multi-polar world.

Singapore and Tanzania continue to see eye to eye to each other in many aspects such as the increased bilateral exchanges in various forms; as staunch members of the Commonwealth; Non Aligned Movement; the Indian Ocean Rim Association, the United Nations, etc. We have over the years continued to support each other in a variety of multilateral fora.

Madam President, as I assume these functions today, I look forward to engaging more constructively with your able leadership and the people of Singapore with a view to consolidating further these collaborative engagements.

Madam President, I thank you.
